Only certain people are eligible
With lots of people still feeling the pinch during this tough cost of living crisis, the government has announced packages and grants to help people who are struggling the most. Later this month, the Department for Work and Pensions will dish out the first of its £301 cost of living payments.
However, those who are claiming contributions-based benefits only, won't be able to access the cost of living payment. DWP guidance therefore states if you only claim one of the following benefits, you cannot access this payment: All of the above benefit claimants can expect to be paid £150 later this year. If you are of state pension age too and normally get a Winter Fuel Payment, you will receive the pensioner cost of living payment on top of this amount. The exact dates for those payments have not yet been announced by the DWP.
