Chryston High will benefit from Scottish Government support for its much-needed expansion to meet its rising pupil roll

A much-needed extension to a Lanarkshire secondary school to resolve “acute” capacity issues is to receive Scottish Government funding.

North Lanarkshire had submitted a combined bid for £19m from the fund for both the Chryston High extension and construction of the planned new Gartcosh Primary and community hub.

A council spokesperson said: “We welcome the LEIP funding allocation for the Chryston High extension, which will be much appreciated by the wider school community, and we look forward to working with the Scottish Futures Trust on this project. North Lanarkshire’s successful funding application comes after two previously-rejected bids, first for the Chryston Primary campus and later for a proposed town hub in Wishaw.
