A 39-year-old Skye man made a second private appearance at Inverness Sheriff Court on Friday

Two crowdfunders set up to help families affected by alleged attacks on Skye that left one dead and others seriously injured have together raised more than £65,000.

Finlay MacDonald, from Tarskavaig, is also charged with attempting to murder his 32-year-old wife Rowena, the mother of his four children. In addition, MacDonald faces another two charges of the attempted murder of local chiropractor John Don Mackenzie in Dornie, along with his wife Fay.MacDonald again made no plea to murdering his sister’s husband John MacKinnon by discharging a shotgun at him and his home, shooting him on the body, whereby he was severely injured and died.Prior to this, MacDonald is accused of stabbing his wife with a knife or similar instrument to her severe injury and danger of life.

After Mr MacKinnon’s death, MacDonald is said to have repeatedly used the shotgun on Mr MacKenzie, striking him on the body to his severe injury and danger of life.MacDonald appeared by video link at the Inverness Justice Centre before Sheriff Robert Frazer and was represented once again by Inverness solicitor John MacColl.Yesterday a crowdfunder for the family of Mr MacKinnon stood at over £44,000, while another to support Mrs MacDonald and her family topped £22,000.
