Family and friends attending the funeral are being asked to wear Everton tops or anything blue
Joe Melia, 37, went missing in the marine lake after getting into difficulty while using a paddleboard on Friday, August 11, while on a day out with his family. His body was found by police on August 14 after three days of searching the water.
Members of the public and a number of officers went in to the water to desperately try and save the man, but he could not found. His family have now publicly released details of Joe's funeral on social media.A service is being held at midday on Thursday, September 7 at St Joesph's Church, with family adding "all friends and family are more than welcome to join". Joe will then be laid to rest in Everton cemetery at 1.20pm.
Following Joe's death the family released a heartbreaking tribute, which read: "Joe was a loving dad, partner, son and uncle. He was having a lovely day with his family and friends in the sun celebrating his birthday.A GoFundMe page was set up by a family friend, to help raise funds for his two children and girlfriend which raised a total of £5,370.Win a top-of-the-range Shark vacuum cleaner worth £449.
