A new mother is facing backlash from her boyfriend's mother after using nicknames for their daughter, Cecily. The mother-in-law, who suggested the name, is furious that the parents are calling their child Essie and Lily, accusing them of disrespecting her choice and trying to 'cut her out' of their lives.
When a pregnant woman's mother-in-law shared a beautiful baby name , she knew it would be perfect for her upcoming arrival.
However, when the mother-in-law found out they'd been using nicknames, she was apparently "furious". In a post on Reddit, the new mum said: "When she heard me call my daughter Lily, I could have sworn she made a face, but I brushed it off. I used the nicknames Essie and Lily a few more times throughout the visit before my boyfriend and I finally left.
But her partner took his mother's side, saying she was "kind of right" about the nicknames. In tears about the awkward situation, the woman took to Reddit for advice.
