Those whose supply was cut off and accessed the Blackburn with Darwen Council website found that information on the pipe burst, progress on restoring the supply and where emergency bottled water provision was available was inaccurate of out of date
Furious residents have caused a local authority to change the way its website responds to emergencies.
They was also angry there were no contact numbers, email addresses or United Utilities web details and links on the site. Many contacted local Blackburn South and Lower Darwen councillor and leader of the borough Conservative Group John Slater on the issue. Council leader Cllr Phil Riley told the meeting on Thursday last week: “It was not as good as it should be. Lessons have been learned. The response should have been better.”
