Former MP for Haslingden and Hyndburn, Graham Jones, went to Bullough Park in Accrington to have a look at the new cricket wicket only to discover that it had been damaged. He believes the burn marks on the pitch look like they have come from spinning the back wheel of a mini motor.
“The level of abuse is unnecessary and it is really disappointing to see this after the hard work Councillor Munsif Dad and the community put into place the new cricket wicket."Councillors are deeply concerned by the fact that people think it’s okay to be racist. Our grandparents fought hard against Nazism and many lost their lives.”
Residents were left shaken and horrified after vicious and disturbing attacks in May on Springhill Community Centre and Little Wonders children’s nursery in Accrington. Vandals struck twice, smashing windows, destroying children’s toys, and plastering swastikas and anti Semitic graffiti over the walls.
Councillor Dad said: “People were desperate to get this kind of facility to have tournaments and to play. This act of vandalism is a continuation of the damage that was done at Springhill Community Centre and Little Wonders children’s nursery just down the road.
