The bright yellow pole is seemingly invisible to drivers - and now they want compensation
A bright yellow bollard in the car park of a Nottinghamshire supermarket is causing havoc for drivers - with 10 cars having allegedly crashed into it in just two years. The four-foot high pole, at the Lidl in Netherfield , is meant to make the nearby zebra crossing safer for pedestrians - and was only installed in March, to improve visibility after a smaller one kept being hit.
Lucy, 21, had only passed her driving test in April when she visited the Lidl supermarket at around 7.30pm on August 19 with her father. She was on the way out of the car park when she turned the corner after the zebra crossing and smashed the side of her car into the pole. Mr Taylor spoke to the man, who said he was alright and the pair spoke about both not having noticed the pole. The man then said that he had just spoken to another customer who had walked into the shop and said she had done the same thing in April.
Lucy now drives a new, cheaper car. The cost of her insurance has increased by more than £1000 per year.
