Galleria Vik
Following the success of its South American resorts and wineries, Vik Retreats has landed in the centre Milan for its first foray into Europe.
Nesting in the rafters of 19th-century shopping strip Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, is the latest luxury hotel to take up residence within the historic complex’s rarefied, cast iron bones. Hosting a sprawling network of 90 rooms, private spa and an on-site cafe and peering out over a glass-roofed parade of boutiques on one side and Piazza della Scala on the other, the hotel’s privileged sightlines are only rivaled by scenes within.
Owners Carrie and Alexander Vik recruited a top-notch clique of Italian, Uruguayan and international artists to install original works in each room, while Rodin’s ‘The Thinker’ holds court in the reception, kept company by a writhing tangle of heroic male figures in a mural by Italian artist Alex Folla. §
