A tornado swept through the community of Hobe Sound late Wednesday morning, cutting a path of damage that mainly stretched along Bridge Road, the National Weather Service confirmed.
The agency rated the twister as an EF-1, meaning it was spinning up windspeeds as high as 85-95 miles per hour. The agency is still working to determine the exact endpoints; however, Martin County Fire Rescue estimated it was on the ground for a mile and a half. The Martin County Sheriff's Office warned residents about the damage caused by the possible tornado, stating that the heavy rains and gusty winds were causing severe driving conditions.
