George RR Martin is travelling to Scotland next month to attend Worldcon, the largest annual gathering of sci-fi creators and their fans, but claims to have been snubbed.

Game of Thrones author George RR Martin has claimed he has been snubbed after asking to appear at a science fiction convention in Glasgow .

However, the 75-year-old has fallen foul of the convention's strict rules which means all participants must fill in their own online application form, regardless of their status. "I am not on any programming. It is not for lack of trying, though. I wrote the con's programming chair back in January, and again in February, asking for his phone number so we could discuss the details.

He added: "I wrote again and offered to organise a Wild Cards event for them. I got no reply to that one. This year's event is set to attract more than 9,000 people from over 60 countries and is forecast to generate more than £6 million for Glasgow's economy.
