Now ringleader Sultan Mahmood Butt, 37, and relatives Nibeel Saghir, 34, and Rizwan Ahmed, 34, have been jailed for a total of 45 years. They estimated a further 14 kilos were imported based on records showing previous parcels linked to the crime group.Butt got the drugs from Pakistan, while Saghir arranged for their distribution to addresses in Luton and Birmingham, helped by Ahmed and Denise Ellis, 46.
Butt was arrested after a WhatsApp message detailing the address for an impending importation was intercepted at Heathrow Airport. Following Ahmed’s arrest in June 2015 and after a second seizure of heroin at East Midlands Airport, Ellis sent a text to an unidentified number saying: ‘Txt me wen ready to pick up. Best collect it tonite then I can’t get blamed for anything.’
