Prince George and Princess Charlotte have watched as their parents once again went head to head in the sporting arena - this time in a charity yacht race won by adventurer Bear Grylls.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took part in The King's Cup regatta in the Isle of Wight, with William finishing third and Kate coming seventh in the first race. The couple's two eldest children joined their grandparents, Carole and Michael Middleton, to watch the spectacle from a boat.William beat his wife in the first race in the Isle of Wight

In the second race, many competitors - including Kate's team - were disqualified for not going back and starting the race at the line.Kate, wearing a baseball cap with her hair in a ponytail, represented the Royal Foundation, in connection with her work on the early years development of children. Comedian John Bishop - raising money for Action on Addiction - was also part of the event, while winner Bear Grylls skippered a yacht for wildlife conservation organisation Tusk.
