A section of the Garden State Parkway that buckled has been temporarily repaired in time for the July 4th holiday getaway, officials said.

A 12-inch thick concrete slab beneath the roadway buckled and caused the road surface to heave, said Tom Feeney, a spokesperson for the Turnpike Authority, which operates the Parkway. The issue was reported at 5:47 p.m. Tuesday and resulted in significant traffic delays,Turnpike Authority repair crews removed the damaged asphalt, tamped the concrete slab underneath back down by driving a milling machine over it, and then poured new asphalt, Feeney said.Here’s how many N.J.
