Slug pellets have long been used by gardeners as a means of pest control in the eternal war being waged with slugs and snails every year
Gardeners have been issued a legal warning about using slug pellets following a change in law. Slug pellets, which have long been used as a means of pest control against slugs and snails, are now subject to new regulations.
However, gardeners could be breaking the law if they continue to store certain slug pellets in their sheds. As of 2022, slug pellets containing a chemical called metaldehyde are banned in the UK. Additionally, anyone who comes across a seller still offering metaldehyde slug pellets should report them to their local council. The ban was implemented due to the pellets' toxicity to birds and hedgehogs, as well as slugs, reports the Mirror.
