Arsenal and Liverpool played out an entertaining 2-2 draw on Sunday, but Gary Lineker believes it was Manchester City who were the real winners in the title race
Gary Lineker has suggested Manchester City came out as the real victors after title rivals Arsenal and Liverpool both dropped points on Sunday.
Mikel Arteta's side held the visitors to an impressive draw, and although the result solidified the belief either team could ultimately clinch the title, Lineker is of the opinion that City were the true winners. Guardiola & co. took home all three points against Southampton on Saturday while their biggest adversaries each lost valuable ground.
Micah Richards quickly chimed in about City's narrow 1-0 win over the Saints, commenting: "I think with Man City, expecting Haaland to score two to three, and they missed quite a few chances, didn't they? But, they just find a way. I've said it many times with Man City, I think a lot of people look at Man City and think they're gonna blow everyone away.
Even with such acclaim, Lineker didn't hold back on praising Arne Slot either, whose leadership has propelled Liverpool to just one point shy of the unbeaten champions. The Reds sit second in the table in his debut Premier League season and would sit at the top were it not for defeat at home to Nottingham Forest.
