Gary Lineker has been the face of the BBC's Match of the Day for a quarter of a century now, but it looked as though the pundit was on his way out the door earlier this month when a reported email leak surfaced
The Saturday evening football highlights show certainly wouldn't be the same without its host of 25 years, with Lineker dedicating most of his punditry career to the BBC. However, earlier this month, speculation was rife that the former Spurs and Leicester striker's tenure with the Beeb was closing.

With a net worth believed to be in the £30million range, Lineker could sit back and enjoy retirement should he choose to part ways with the BBC - however, with years still left in him at 63, the pundit would find work elsewhere instantly. A domino effect What could be tougher than solely replacing Lineker on Match of the Day? Replacing both Lineker and Shearer, of course. The two have enjoyed a budding punditry career alongside one another over the years, and their on-screen rapport is undoubtedly a product of their long-standing friendship.
