Work on the first phase of the project has already begun
Gary Neville has admitted he made a 'huge mistake' after initially earmarking two historic Manchester city centre buildings for demolition as part of his £400m St Michael's development.
In the initial plans, the Sir Ralph Abercromby pub and part of the former Bootle Street police station would have been bulldozed, however, those behind the project u-turned after a backlash from conservationists. He said the 2007 recession and the recent Covid pandemic had affected it but said he took 'full responsibility' for the initial planning issues with the project.
He added: "I have openly admitted that we got it wrong but we have been corrected and we have owned up to our mistakes and we are now on site."
