Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has changed his prediction for the club's 2023-24 season, now forecasting they will finish outside the top four. Neville also predicts Arsenal to win the Premier League title, overtaking Liverpool in the second half of the season.
Gary Neville has reversed his prediction that Manchester United would finish in the top four this season. The Sky Sports pundit had initially backed his former club after their summer spending spree of around £200million. However, United's dismal start to the Premier League campaign under Erik ten Hag, who has since been sacked, has changed his mind. Although the club has shown some promising signs under new head coach Ruben Amorim, Neville believes they will fall short of a top-four finish.
United remain in 13th place, six points behind fourth-placed Nottingham Forest, and this marks the first time in about 15 years that Neville has predicted they will finish outside the top four. On The Overlap US, Neville stated: 'Top four… I haven't got full faith in Tottenham, Aston Villa, and to be fair, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, and all the other teams that are in and around it. I think it will be City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal at this moment in time. It’s the first time I haven’t said United will be in the top four, I think, in about 15 years!' Neville, putting aside his rivalry with the Gunners, previously predicted Arsenal to win the title ahead of Liverpool in the summer. Despite Liverpool currently leading by six points with a game in hand, Neville believes Arsenal will find their form at the halfway point of the season and overtake the Reds. 'I’m going to go with Arsenal on the basis that I think they’ll hit their form,' he added
