Gary Thompson thought his days of playing in major finals were over after leaving Crusaders, but now he is preparing for another showpiece final with Portadown. If they manage to beat Linfield in the BetMcLean Cup final, it will be a remarkable achievement.
Gary Thompson admitted he thought his days of playing in major finals may have been behind him following his departure from Crusaders at the end of last season. The experienced midfielder has had his fair share of big days over the last decade winning three Irish Cups, two League Cups and a County Antrim Shield.
Now he is preparing for another showpiece final with Portadown and if they manage to get the better of Linfield in tomorrow's BetMcLean Cup final they really will have done it the hard way.
