The average gas price in Columbus fell 12.1 cents-per-gallon in the last week bringing the average price to $3.22 on Monday.
of 500 local gas stations, the cheapest price per gallon in the area was $3.02 and the highest was $3.39.Gas prices in Columbus are 17.2 cents higher than a month ago and 13.2 more than a year ago.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said the recent drop in prices might be temporary. "Motorists have finally seen a bit of a break in the recent rise in the national average, with more states seeing drops than increases in the last week," De Haan said in a statement. "While the pause has certainly been nice, this is more like a rain delay than it is a 7th-inning stretch. It's likely only a matter of time before we see the rise re-engage and prices start to head higher."Other areas in Ohio also have seen a decrease in their gas prices.
