The cost of getting around in Maryland is changing this summer.
The gas tax in the Free State is ticking down beginning July 1. But other fees you pay the state will skyrocket this summer.2-year vehicle registration fees increase from $135 for a standard sedan to $221
In addition, Maryland is reclassifying vehicles so that many more makes and models will fall into the more expensive “heavy” category. The old, more-costly category was for vehicles over 3,700 pounds, but in July that decreases to 3,500 pounds.
