'The tribunal finds that of late the application of gaslighting by parties in proceedings to describe behaviour from another which they dislike has become overused'
An employment judge says that former employees are increasingly accusing their bosses of gaslighting them as he threw out a doctor's claim against a Carlisle hospital trust.
However, issues continued to arise, and Mrs Desert was left with the belief that she was being unfairly targeted by Prof Phillips. In one email exchange between the pair Prof Phillips he said the sub-divisions in Mrs Desert's department had "blossomed into different services" and she accused him of referencing her gender.
The tribunal's ruling revealed that Prof Phillips had made a formal complaint of fraud about Mrs Desert after he discovered that Mrs Desert's husband, who is a GP at the Castlegate Surgery in Cockermouth, had been contracted to provide services to the trust. Mrs Desert subsequently raised a grievance against Prof Phillips, after disciplinary proceedings were launched against her regarding the GP contract, in which she accused him of bullying, harassment and gaslighting.
