Wales coach Warren Gatland remains committed to his role despite another dismal performance, this time a loss to Italy that sees them slip to 12th in the world rankings. Gatland has coached Wales for two separate periods since 2007, and the second – running from 2022 – has been largely disastrous.Gatland is under contract until the 2027 World Cup but was expected to leave at the end of the current tournament., who has already confirmed he will leave Leicester Tigers at the end of this season, and interim Ireland boss Simon Easterby.The Italy defeat means Wales have slipped to 12th in the world rugby rankings, below Georgia.
But in his second, Wales have won just six of their 26 Tests, with their last win coming over Georgia at the 2023 World Cup, where they also beat Australia, Portugal and Fiji.
