BBC has confirmed that the upcoming Christmas special, which will air later this year, will be the final ever episode of the hit sitcom, Gavin and Stacey, 17 years after its debut
BBC has offered Gavin and Stacey fans a sneak peek into what the final episode holds. The last instalment was confirmed earlier this year, with James Corden sharing the thrilling news with fans on social media.
As the finale approaches, BBC has dropped hints about the plot for the new episode. "It's been five years since we left Nessa down on one knee declaring her love for Smithy and asking him to marry her. And a lot has happened since then," reads the synopsis for the upcoming episode. "Over in Billericay, Pam is stressing out at the prospect of playing hostess, not helped by a newly retired Mick practising his golf swings in the living room and there have been more ups and downs in Pete and Dawn's relationship."
The upcoming episode is a direct sequel to the 2019 Christmas special, which attracted over 17 million viewers on its initial broadcast, making it the most-watched TV episode in ten years.
