GB sprinter Dina Asher-Smith came eighth in the World Championships final for the women's 100m sprint, as USA sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson brought home the gold
Dina Asher-Smith came eighth in the Women's 100m sprint at the final of the World Athletic Championships in Budapest.
Sha'Carri Richardson, from the USA, stormed to first place with a jaw-dropping time of 10.65 seconds, narrowly beating Jamaican pair Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. But Dina, 27, who was running for Great Britain, unfortunately trailed behind and didn't even make the top three of the sprinters, with her time at 11 seconds.
Dina, who was placed on the far right side, ran out to jubilant cheers from the crowd, but the onlookers' support wasn't enough to propel her to victory. The runner clocked just 11.02 seconds in her semi-final to come third in Budapest on Monday night and needed to rely on a fastest loser spot – sneaking in by a thousandth of a second. This is a breaking news story and is being updated in real time.
