The agent of Jean-Philippe Gbamin has claimed his client walked away from a £5million salary when he terminated his contract at Everton.

The Ivory Coast international then joined Trabzonspor on loan at the end of August last season. He made 24 appearances for the Turkish club before returning to Everton, who were keen to sell the midfielder during the summer transfer window. “He didn’t take any money. The club had to wait until the end of the window to see if there was a club who wanted to buy him, but nobody wanted to pay Everton’s price, especially for a player that can sign for free in January.
