Some 52 per cent of 18 to 24-year-olds are worried about the impact of the technology on theiriAround a third of this younger age group – who could be labelled “Generation AI” – are not concerned, compared to 50 per cent of the wider population.Nearly half of people – 48 per cent – believe it is likely that humans will one day lose control of AI systems by surpassing human capabilities and start to act against human interests. Around a third of people think this scenario is unlikely.

A third of people think that it is likely that AI will be able to replicate human-like consciousness and feel emotions akin to human beings. Just 12 per cent are concerned about a lack of proper laws and regulations to govern AI technology, while 10 per cent are worried that increasing reliance on AI will fuel bias and discrimination.
