George Baldock's family have released a statement after the Panathinaikos defender's tragic death aged 31.
The full-back moved to Athens to play for Panathinaikos after spending seven fruitful years at Sheffield United, where he enjoyed two promotions. He had also played for the Greek national team and was due to watch them play against England at a packed Wembley Stadium, reports the Mirror. His team, Panathinaikos, reacted with profound sorrow, saying: "We are shocked, we are shocked by the loss of our George. The family of Panathinaikos mourns his untimely death. We stand with the family and loved ones of George Baldock."
Baldock, began his career at MK Dons and made 125 appearances for the club. During his time at MK Dons, he gained experience through loan spells at Northampton, Oxford, Tamworth, and Icelandic team IBV.
