'It scunners me beyond words to see our city like this; I am fed up with seeing our beautiful city being mismanaged. And that is what is happening.' | RedmondLabour ✍️
Bus provider First Glasgow has announced it is going to pull its night-time service from the city centre.
We, all of us elected councillors, are supposed to be the strategic authority for Glasgow and we have to show leadership – to allow this to happen just illustrates yet again the clear lack of leadership that we have. And that’s not an exaggeration – the leadership of the city have already actively failed our taxi industry with the ludicrous and dangerous move to introduce LEZ last month.
It’s not really surprising that the administration’s communication skills are questioned, it introduced the LEZ without actually looking at the council’s fleet, how much money it would take to replace and how many of our own vehicles were compliant. The answer is not many, and a replacement fleet to the tune of £30 million is now required. And so, on the board of SPT where there are four SNP councillors and one Green councillor this has come as a total shock to them.
