George Russell had five seconds added to his US GP time for an incident with Valtteri Bottas.
George Russell found himself slapped with a five-second time penalty at the United States GP, one he called “not correct” for “anyone who knows racing.”
Speaking to media including PlanetF1.com after the race, Russell said that going purely by “the letter of the law”, his penalty was justified, but add in any understanding of racing and that was no longer the case. “But anybody who knows racing, anybody watching it, knows it was not correct. I don’t really know how we move forward.”Russell would put forward a solution of his own, that being to end the system of stewards rotating from race to race.
In an exclusive interview with PlanetF1.com, former F1 racer turned FIA steward Johnny Herbert recently explained how money is the main reason for the steward panel rotating race by race.
