ATHENS, Ga. — Kirby Smart maintains he never had any doubt about how good could be this season as Georgia’s starting quarterback. Why? Because he watched him perform against the defense in practice the last couple of championship seasons, and what could be harder than that? Well, games, actually.
“There were some scenarios today when some guys might have lost their cool or blew a gasket on the O-line. But he didn’t do that. He stayed cool.” In many ways, Beck projects as a better quarterback than Bennett. He’s 6 foot 4 with a strong arm, which he showed off with a 33-yard bullet to McConkey that set up the team’s third touchdown in the third quarter.
