The actor is in Belfast filming for the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon
The Scottish actor visited city centre bar Sweet Afton on Brunswick Street to watch Ireland take on England. He is currently in Northern Ireland filming for the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon.
Posting on social media, Sweet Afton Bar and Kitchen said: "Visit from the one & only Gerard Butler who called in to watch Ireland take on England in todays Six Nation’s." In recent weeks, Butler has been spotted out and about enjoying all the city has to offer. Last month, he was pictured with Belfast born former boxer Carl Frampton when he popped into The Deer's Head to watch the rugby. He has also sampled some of the city's restaurants, including Deane's Meat Locker and Belfast's oldest Indian restaurant, Archana on the Dublin Road. The iconic restaurant shared an image of the actor in the restaurant on social media, with the caption: "Gerry knows a good balti when he sees it. A pleasure having him at Archana." Most recently, Butler stopped by Holywood restaurant Cleaver, with manager, Mattie McMullan, telling Belfast Live: "He literally just walked into the restaurant and had his meal. He didn't expect any special treatment, he just sat down and enjoyed his meal. "He was very complimentary of the food and he was nothing but polite... genuinely on his way out he said 'that was amazing, thank you very much'."
