Thermometers will make it up to 20C (68F) in eastern parts of England every day between today and Saturday - before falling to a more average 14C (57F) by Sunday.

Britons enjoyed the first of three consecutive days of 20C warmth today as swimmers ran into the sea to celebrate the end of a run of wet and windy weather.

By 1pm today, temperatures hit 18.8C at Weybourne in Norfolk, 18.6C at Pershore in Worcestershire and 18.3C at Coningsby in Lincolnshire. 'Highs of 19C , 20C across the South East but up towards the high teens all the way up the east coast towards the north of Scotland.' She added that tomorrow 'should be another very mild day particularly for the time of year', although with not as much sunshine as today. One person showing signs of hypothermia was taken to hospital. Residents described the flooding as 'scary and unprecedented'
