Canelo Alvarez gives frank criticism of Ryan Garcia in Gervonta Davis defeat
Canelo Alvarez has given a frank response to his former teammate Ryan Garcia’s knockout defeat to Gervonta Davis.
Garcia split from Canelo’s long-time coach Eddy Reynoso last year, prompting a war of words between the two boxers.The veteran champion was critical of the youngster’s work rate and attitude, as he took time away from the sport in 2022 due to mental health issues. Garcia had complaints about how much time Reynoso was able to dedicate to him with Canelo always being the priority in the busy gym.
Reynoso also trained Andy Ruiz, Frank Sanchez, Oscar Valdez and Julio Cesar Martinez, among other fighters across the past few years.Canelo appeared miffed by this decision and predicted that Davis would beat him as a result., Garcia has now split with Goossen and is rumoured to have reached back out to Reynoso about potentially reuniting.Advertisement
