Police are investigating after a 'suspicious package' was found Tuesday at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center in Adams County.
Officials have identified the contents of the "suspicious package" that was found Tuesday at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center in Adams County.
They say the package contained fireworks that produce smoke. A picture of the suspect has also been released. According to a press release, Cumberland Township Police officers and National Park Service rangers were made aware at 6:55 a.m. of a package found at the main entrance of the Gettysburg Museum and Visitor Center.Police evacuated the building, and emergency dispatchers confirmed that the entrances were closed off.
Cumberland Township Police Chief Matthew Trostel said investigators were on standby for a "specialized unit from PA State Police to arrive to get a more informed opinion." The Pennsylvania State Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal team arrived to take an x-ray of the package, and the "contents" were safely removed from the scene.Employees were allowed back inside at approximately 11 a.m., and the public was allowed back around noon.At this time, it's still unclear what was inside the package.Stay Connected
