Severe storms are forecast to hit the east coast of NSW this afternoon, bringing heavy falls, large hail and damaging winds to some areas. 7NEWS
Meanwhile, the Hunter region is set to cop the brunt of the wild weather, with the Bureau of Meteorology expecting possible destructive winds and giant hailstones to hit the area.Forecaster Weatherzone said “supercell thunderstorms” could develop in the Hunter and Mid North Coast regions.
Severe storms are predicted to hit the east coast of NSW on Monday afternoon. Locations in white and blue could see thunderstorms, with the darker blues indicating a higher chance of severe storms. The wild weather comes as “warmth, humidity and instability” collide along the ranges. “Upper cold air will be crossing along with the southerly change, allowing for thunderstorms to become severe with large hail, damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall,” Weatherzone said.
Severe thunderstorm warnings are in place for people in the Northern Tablelands and parts of Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Hunter and Central West Slopes and Plains Forecast districts. The Bureau has also issued a severe weather warning for parts of the Northern Territory as a tropical low pressure system brings widespread and heavy rain this week.
