Giovanni Pernice has revealed he's taking his show on the road with a more personal touch after admitting to having lost friends following a scandal on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing . The Italian-born dancer, who was not invited back to the popular dance competition in 2024, faced an investigation into his conduct during the 2023 series. While cleared of the most serious allegations, the BBC apologized to Sherlock actress Amanda Abbington after upholding some of her complaints against Pernice.
Following the controversy, Pernice found success on the Italian version of the show, Ballando con le Stelle, where he partnered with actress and singer Bianca Guaccero, his current girlfriend. They won the competition in December. Now, Pernice is back in the UK with his final tour, for now, titled 'The Last Dance'. He has shared clips on Instagram showcasing increased audience interaction, including spontaneous conversations with surprised members of his audience. Alongside a clip, he posted on his Instagram Story: 'I'm getting up close and personal this year.' This comes after Pernice confessed during the first night of his tour in High Wycombe on Monday (January 20) that he lost friends due to the allegations made against him last year. 'Nobody wanted to be seen with me,' he revealed. 'I felt like the world collapsed....I didn’t have anybody around me. All the people that were supposed to be my friend disappeared,' he reportedly told the Mirror. Despite the ordeal, Pernice has expressed his desire to return to Strictly. However, he believes the producers are unlikely to have him back. 'I think they have closed the book on that and moved on. I would love to go back to 'Strictly' because 'Strictly' changed my life. It is a massive show, but I don’t think they’re going to have me back. They’re not,' he told the Mail on Sunday newspaper. While acknowledging his disappointment, Pernice remains optimistic about the future. 'Everybody has moved on. Maybe I might come back in a few years like Alijaz. I think this is the path we take. And don’t forget, I’m the reigning Italian champion,' he concluded
