EXCLUSIVE: Amanda Abbington walked away from the Strictly Come Dancing competition last week for 'personal reasons' leaving viewers and dance partner Giovanni Pernice “upset”
She was in with a fighting chance of picking up the Glitterball Trophy, but for Amanda Abbington the dance is over following her shock decision to quit Strictly Come Dancing last week.
“Giovanni is really competitive and dancing is his life,” a source told new . “This could be his last ever Strictly. He’s been thinking about the future as he gets older so, if that’s the case, it’s a shame it’s ended this way. Giovanni uploaded a picture of himself with Amanda on his Instagram, with the caption, “I am so sad we can’t continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love.”
Her fiancé, ex Britain’s Got Talent escapologist Jonathan Goodwin, sent a message of support, replying to her social media announcement with, “You are so incredible. So unbelievably beautiful but also incredibly brave. I’m so proud to be your man.” Now, with confusion building over the timing of remaining eliminations, it’s understandable that some cast members may feel unsettled and anxious about these latest developments.
“Amanda Abbington was my favourite from day one on Strictly. Sad to see her leave – she would have made the final I’m sure,” wrote a third.“I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons I am unable to continue,” she wrote on Instagram, before heaping praise on the Strictly team and fans for their support. However, it was noted that she did not praise – or even mention – her partner Giovanni directly.
