An 11-year-old who was forced to have a cesarean after being raped by her grandmother’s husband has reopened the debate about abortion in Argentina.
Intervening experts had to prove that the child was not psychologically or physically prepared to give birth and she eventually underwent a cesarean at 23 weeks.The decision has sparked outrage across the South American country – with many claiming that the child was ‘forced to give birth’. ‘Her body wasn’t sufficiently developed for a 23 week pregnancy, and even if it had been, she wasn’t psychologically ready given the many abuses she’d suffered.’
