A 7-year-old girl died when she was hit on the head with a bunch of young coconuts in the remote village of Mua-an here on Friday afternoon, police officials confirmed. READ:
Police Captain Razel Enriquez, the city deputy police chief, identified the girl as Shikayna Aguirre, an incoming Grade 2 pupil, who was playing near her residence when the incident happened.Enriquez disclosed that a parent of the victim requested a neighbor to climb their coconut trees to collect the mature fruits for copra, but the bunch of young coconuts fell, hitting the child in the head.
“The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but pronounced dead upon arrival by the attending physician,” Enriquez narrated.
