A 19-year-old was arrested following the collision on Briercliffe Road in Burnley on Thursday afternoon
A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving following a crash on a busy road.
Police and paramedics were called to Briercliffe Road in Burnley yesterday afternoon following reports of a road traffic collision. When officers arrived they found a 13-year-old girl was 'seriously injured' after being struck by an off-road motorbike as she crossed the carriageway near the former Duke of York pub.
Lancashire Constabulary said she suffered serious injuries and is being treated in hospital. A 19-year-old was arrested and remains in custody for questioning.Sgt Chris Evans of the Road Policing Unit, said: "A girl suffered serious injuries in this collision and our thoughts first and foremost, are with her and her family. We are carrying out an extensive investigation and want to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who were in the area shortly before or afterwards.
