The girlfriend of one of the Australian brothers who was killed execution-style while on a surfing trip in Mexico has shared some of the last messages he sent her in the months before his death. Callum Robinson, 33, his brother Jake Robinson, 30, and their friend, Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, were shot in the head and their bodies left in a well in the Mexican state of Baja California. The incident was a botched robbery by thieves who wanted their ute for spare parts, authorities believe.
The alleged murderers attempted to destroy the evidence, burning the tent and driving the coveted pick-up away before setting it alight. The bodies were dumped in a 4m-deep well about 6km away, on top of a fourth body prosecutors say had been there much longer. Three suspects are being held in connection with the case, with one of the suspects identified as 33-year-old Jesus Gerardo.
