Joe McSwiggan, 62, was preparing to get his life back on track after a difficult year which saw him contract sepsis, have two heart attacks and a stroke before his caravan was stolen on Saturday.
An amputee who lost his toe and "nearly died" after contracting sepsis has been dealt another blow after his "lifeline" caravan was stolen.
The 62-year-old, who lives in sheltered housing, was alerted by his cousin that the vehicle was not where it was usually parked. On realising that his campervan had been stolen, Joe said "I was absolutely scunnered."READ MORE: Glasgow street taped off in 'serious' police incident as officers stand guard
A tearful Joe told Glasgow Live: "I’ve hardly gone out in the last year, other than going to hospital appointments. My aim was to get back on my feet, get out in my campervan and get away. A GoFundMe page has been created by Joe's friend, Edward Black in a bid to "make his life a little bit better" in case the caravan isn't found. Police Scotland have confirmed enquiries into the theft remain ongoing.
