The disgraced carer then provided a written account of the shift he alleged to have undertook - with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) describing his actions as a serious 'breach of trust'.
A Glasgow carer has been struck off after she arranged for an 'unknown individual' to turn up for her shift at a care home.
On February 12, 2023, while employed as a carer by Glasgow's Florence Staffing Ltd, Obinna Ihionu planned for an 'unknown' person who is not a registered worker, to attend his shift at Erskine Home without the knowledge of his employer. On March 23, 2023, the disgraced carer then provided a written account of the shift he alleged to have undertook - with the Scottish Social Services Council describing his actions as a serious "breach of trust".The decision reads: "Social service workers are required to be reliable, dependable and should honour work commitments and, when it is not possible to do so, explain why to their employer.
"By asking an unknown person who, to our knowledge, is not a registered worker to cover your shift you undermined the protection and accountability that comes from services and the SSSC knowing who is working with service users, and thereby placed service users at risk of both physical and emotional harm. Your behaviour was reckless and demonstrates that you were willing to potentially jeopardise the health, safety and welfare of service users for your own ends.
