Glasgow City Council says its City Centre Transport Plan (CCTP) 'aims to deliver a thriving vibrant city centre where the movement of people and sustainable transport modes are given priority.'

Glasgow City Council says its City Centre Transport Plan "aims to deliver a thriving vibrant city centre where the movement of people and sustainable transport modes are given priority."

As part of its delivery, the council has developed designs for a safe, high-quality and inclusive active travel link on West Nile Street, running parallel to Buchanan Street. They say it will provide a north-south connection to other active travel schemes within the Avenues Programme including Argyle Street, St Vincent Street and Sauchiehall Street.

Design workshops have been held with key stakeholders including emergency services and transport operators as well as business groups, accessibility and active travel groups. A drop-in consultation session for members of the public was also held at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on November 20. Construction of the West Nile Street project is still subject to securing funding beyond the preliminary design stage, with the council actively taking steps to explore all available options.
