Glasgow City Council has added £6m to help fix potholes and resurface damage from winter.

In January, the AA found that garages had reported a significant increase in wheel damage by potholes.

The council said it would ensure "significant levels of additional work" were carried out in all 23 wards before the end of the financial year.Councillor Ruairi Kelly, city convener for neighbourhood services, said he shared the frustration of other road users who had noticed an increase in the number and size of potholes.

"While we are committed to improving local infrastructure, I'll also be making the case for a funding mechanisms which better recognises the national significance of Glasgow's road network to the Scotland's overall prosperity."
