Glasgow City Council wants to support governments at Westminster and Holyrood on action to make communities safer.

Glasgow City Council has backed calls for a crackdown on the misuse of off-road vehicles like quad bikes or “souped-up” e-bikes.

Cllr Gow paid tribute to Craig for his “campaigning for progress in reducing the harms that may come from illegal and inappropriate use of off-road vehicles”. Council officials will write to the UK Government’s transport secretary, Heidi Alexander MP, to tell her Glasgow councillors support considering changing the law in this area, including a potential vehicle registration scheme.

He said: “Glasgow has an opportunity to take leadership in bridging this crossover between matters reserved and matters devolved, and work to deliver the best for our communities across the city.” He also suggested sellers could be required to have a licence and police could be given greater seizure powers.
