A Glasgow City Council worker was arrested after an alleged sting by an online 'paedo hunting' group. The 58-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was confronted on shift by members of Facebook group Protecting Kids Scotland on Saturday, June 5, at around 12pm.
The confrontation was livestreamed on social media and saw the man spoken to by vigilante 'paedo hunters' before police were called to the scene. In the clip, the man is seen wearing Glasgow City Council street cleaning uniform, including a high-vis top labelled with the authority's logo.Police have confirmed that they arrested a man and charged him in connection with allegations of indecent communications. He was due to appeal in court in Ayr today.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12pm Saturday, 3 June, a 58-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with alleged indecent communications. He is due to appear before Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday, June 5, 2023.
