Marion and Pat Galloway, a couple from Glasgow, celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary with a special lunch at Ailsa Craig Care Home, where Marion resides. The couple, who met on a blind date as teenagers, have shared a loving and enduring relationship.

A Glasgow couple who met on a blind date as teenagers have celebrated 53 years of marriage with a romantic meal. Marion Galloway, a resident at HC-One Scotland’s Ailsa Craig Care Home, in Cessnock, Glasgow , and her husband Pat Galloway celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary together. The couple first met when they were just 18 and 19 years old in February 1971, after being set up on a blind date at a house party hosted by Pat's sister.

With Pat sliding along the couch after swapping seats with a friend, they both knew they were destined to be together. The couple tied the knot only a year later in 1972. The pair have enjoyed a fruitful marriage, and share two daughters and grandchildren. Marion resides in Ailsa Craig’s Millport community with husband Pat visiting her every day proving the love shared between them is as strong as it was 53 years ago. Ailsa Craig colleagues organised a few surprises for the couple, as they celebrated their wedding anniversary on Wednesday, February 5. Marion and Pat enjoyed their private lunch with lots of love and laughter in Ailsa Craig’s decorated visitors room, followed by a surprise cake before sharing memories of their life with colleagues. Finishing the afternoon, the couple danced together to their wedding song Let’s Stay Together by Al Green. Fiona Pryce, HC-One Scotland’s Ailsa Craig Wellbeing Coordinator, said: 'Marion and Pat are the perfect example of true love and dedication to one another. We are delighted to be able to assist in celebrating their love on their anniversary. Moments like these are why we love our role.
